Welcome to Trailer Happiness, a subterranean tiki bar on Portobello Road which marries beaded door curtains and 1960s-style prints on the curtains and carpets with Polynesian paintings, and palm tree wallpaper.

It’s Grade A “kooky date” territory, serving up a concise list of bar snacks (including plantain crisps, shrimp dumplings and Jamaican patties) alongside the real reason for going – the cocktails.

The drinks list is, predictably for a tiki bar, heavily rum-inspired, and is tailored towards the exotic tastes of the Caribbean. Examples include Trailer Grog – Rum Sixty Six, Don Q spiced rum, mango puree, lemon and apple juices and bitters; and The Zombie – Trailer’s zombie rum blend, Taylor’s velvet falernum, maraschino liqueur, grenadine, passionfruit syrup, absinthe, bitters, lime juice, grapefruit juice, topped with a shake of cinnamon. Phew.

The Zombie’s also one of a handful of drinks that’s available in bathtub size for 4-5 people to share.
